Celebrating Thirty Years of Counselling Psychology writing competition

Closing date: Friday 13th April 2012

GUIDELINES FOR SUBMISSIONS

Submissions must

  • Demonstrate excellence and originality in an essay which addresses the following : "The relationship between research and practice which emphasises the distinctive characteristics of Counselling Psychology".
  • Have a word limit of 2,000 words (not including quotes, references and bibliography).
  • Be submitted by the closing date of Friday 13th April 2012.

Judges

  • All judges will be Chartered members of the Division and/or Committee members.
  • A minimum of three judges will be involved but more may be recruited depending on number of submissions. One judge will act as Chair.

Judging Process

  • The judges will be able to justify to the Division Committee (if asked) how and why they have reached the decisions they have.
  • The winner(s) will be announced at the AGM at the Annual Conference. Winners will be invited to present their paper at the Divisional Annual Conference and /or have their paper published in CPR.

Prizes

  • We have been offered two prizes, one of £300 for the First Prize and one of £200 as Second Prize. Prize monies must be used by the winners to contribute towards their own essential travel and/or administrative research costs. Winners will be asked to submit details of their proposed expenditure.

Submission details:

All submissions must be addressed to Susan Eppel and should be sent electronically by email to DcoPAwards@bps.org.uk . It should include ‘Celebrating Thirty Years Prize 2012’ in the subject line.

Please submit two files: one a cover sheet with identifying information as indicated in the advert in CPR, and the other the submission (with no personally identifying information). For further information contact Judy Milne DCoPTraining@bps.org.uk .
